10.17.24 – Register now for our upcoming GMM

Dear Members,

As we enter our tenth month of contract negotiations, it is vital that we stay united in our efforts to push the administration to do more than the bare minimum for our faculty.  We must stay connected as a union to send a clear message to the administration about our priorities for a fair second contract.

I hope you will join me on Wednesday, October 23rd from 5:30-7pm for the Fall General Membership Meeting (GMM) at the Memorial Union in the Journey Room.  Our GMMs are held in a hybrid format, so even if you can’t attend in person, you can still participate via Zoom.   For in person attendees there will be food, drinks, and opportunities to reconnect with your colleagues at 5:30pm and our full discussion, including our Zoom attendees, will start at 6pm.

I recognize that we all have demands on our schedules, especially as the term progresses, but if we’re going to secure a contract that provides our faculty the equity, respect, and stability we deserve, then we need to come together to discuss bargaining and the next steps in our contract campaign. Additionally, by now you may have heard that our colleagues in the Coalition of Graduate Employees may be gearing up for a strike in the coming weeks so we will have updates to share on this too.  We have a lot to talk about, so I hope you will make the time to show up.

Will you attend? If so, please register at uaosu.org/fallgmm.

If you are already planning to attend, talk to your friends about attending as well. After all, our power as a union comes from us working together as a united faculty to secure our new contract. The more of us working together, the stronger we will be in negotiations with the administration.

In solidarity,

Diana Castillo, UAOSU Secretary
